Jill Fannon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Maryland Institute College of Art in 2004. Pursuing interests in both photography and community, Jill began teaching photography in Baltimore based arts non-profits, where she continues to do so. Jills formal interest in the traditions of photography, specifically social-documentary work, have aided her venture into new research. Jill seeks to use the photograph as an artifact that questions the space between photographer as observer vs. participant. Her work is structured around place, personal action, and aftermath. She is interested in creating images that reflect human impact, through the casualties of our own disguard and memory. Jill has participated in group exhibitions in MD, and has published her work in order to spread awareness for Hurricane Katrina.
