IMDA Studios—ITE Building—UMBC Campus
The M.F.A. Graduate Program in Imaging and Digital Arts (IMDA) facility houses individual studios for video production, editing, and audio, as well as a "smart classroom" production studio, and an adjacent archive-projection booth. These are located within the Information Technology/Engineering (ITE) Building next to the Imaging Research Center (IRC), fostering increased interdisciplinary opportunities for graduate students.

To support the IMDA program, UMBC provides a wide choice of imaging equipment and software that is periodically upgraded to ensure facilities comparable to the highest-rated M.F.A. programs in the country.

The IRC is recognized nationally as a leading experimental facility in the field of computer visualization and animation. Many graduate students become involved in the production and research projects of the IRC, including investigations into new imaging technologies and interactive display devices.

IMDA Studios—Raleigh Building—Baltimore
Graduate students in the IMDA program have the opportunity to utilize studio space in a building several miles from the UMBC campus in Baltimore (just west of M&T Bank Stadium). The 5000 square foot IMDA space is located on the first floor of the Raleigh Industrial Building, a facility that features a loading dock, parking garage, 24-hour access, and security-guard station.

Opportunities
Each spring, RTKL Associates provides a small stipend to a graduate student who has recently advanced to candidacy to assist that student in their thesis research. RTKL is an international architecture, engineering and planning firm located in Baltimore.

The Foreign Exchange Program allows IMDA graduate students and Visual Arts faculty to collaborate on a professional level as artists and to interact with their counterparts in Germany at Fachhochschule Schwäbisch Hall (University of Applied Sciences, Schwäbisch Hall, Germany). Galleries, Collections, and Venues
Graduate students regularly participate and assist in the exhibition activities of the internationally recognized UMBC Center for Art, Design and Visual Culture (CADVC).

The Albin O. Kuhn Library at UMBC contains a film and video collection with over 1,000 titles and an art history slide collection with 75,000 slides. The Special Collections facility features 100,000 original photographs and an artist book collection that students may access.

Mid-Atlantic Region Arts Venues UMBC graduate students are also encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of performances, exhibitions, lectures, and screenings in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and New York.

IMDA Graduate Opportunities
To support this program, UMBC has established an impressive array of imaging equipment that allows its facilities to be comparable to the finest M.F.A. programs in the country. In addition to these facilities is UMBC's Imaging Research Center (IRC), a nationally recognized leader in the field of experimental computer visualization and animation. Many graduate students become involved in the production and research projects of the IRC including investigations into new imaging technologies and interactive display devices.

In addition to these resources, the university features two spacious galleries that curate and exhibit national and international shows.
