Orbital: a video installation by Lynn Cazabon
Monday, August 23rd, 2010 //
The Electronic Gallery at Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD
Orbital is a three-part video (a triptych) showing electronic waste traveling through an ambiguous white space. The viewer of this piece is suspended in mid-air as a continuous stream of objects float continuously past them. The objects are recently obsolete electronic gadgets and parts, representative of the type of things that pass through our lives at ever-increasing speed. Orbital also refers to the real phenomenon of orbital debris, or space junk, millions of pieces of debris left behind from space missions and satellites that currently circle the earth in space in low Earth orbit (within 2000 km of earth's surface) and beyond that in the Geosynchronous region.
Please join us for Lynn Cazabon's Artist Talk on Thursday, September 16 at 5 p.m. in the Teacher Education and Technology Center TETC153 followed by a reception in the Electronic Gallery (TETC128).
Orbital will run from August 23 through September 24, 2010
