Dr. Ugo N. Ugbor, who graduated in 1998, with a B.A. in Visual Arts (Graphic Design), now resides and works in Vienna, Austria. After leaving UMBC, he obtained a Masters in Software Development from the OPEN University UK, and in 2008, a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences from the Vienna University of Technology.

Ugbor is the principal research consultant of the Center for International Knowledge Management, a special interest group within the Knowledge Management Association in Vienna, and a visiting professor at the University of Applied Sciences, Wiener Neustadt, Austria. He has a decade of experience working as a technology specialist in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and has researched various organizations' knowledge management (KM) practices, including the EU, IAEA, IMO, OPEC, OPEC Fund, OSCE, UNIDO and UNODC.

Dr. Ugbor is the author of Becoming Knowledge Focused: Developing a Practical Approach to Managing Knowledge in International Organizations and has written peer reviewed articles and presented at international conferences on KM, including the IAEA Seibersdorf Scientific Seminar. Currently, he conducts research-based workshops for international organizations on ways to manage and grow their intellectual capital.

Throughout his career, he has maintained a design first attitude, and owes much of his achievement to the creative process he learned while at UMBC - that is to say: first - conduct primary and secondary research related to a problem; second - have fun and play serendipitously with concepts and ideas on paper and pen; and finally - use the computer as a tool to finesse and flesh out those ideas.
