Dr. Ellen Handler-Spitz Lecture in India
Invited to Speak on Children's Literature

The English Alumni Association of Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, India, deems it an honor to invite Professor Ellen Handler Spitz of the University of Maryland (UMBC) to give the Alumni Lecture 2012 on January 8, 2012, and to give the keynote address at the International Seminar on Children's Literature and Politics, organized by the English Department on 9 and 10, January 2012. Some of the other eminent speakers in the seminar are as follows: Professor Ernest Bond, Professor D.R. Pattanaik (the Convener of the Conference), the eminent writer Paul Zacharia, David Dennen, and noted children's literature expert, Peter Hunt. The Alumni Lecture and the seminar are expected to attract many distinguished alumni, including lawmakers from the Indian Parliament, writers, judges of Supreme Court of India, the Chief Information Commissioner of India, civil servants, and academics. This will be Dr. Spitz's fourth trip to India to give lectures on children's literature and the arts.
