The Visual Arts IRC Fellows just won an animation competition and their piece will be displayed twice with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra's contemporary chamber music series Music Off the Walls on Sunday April 27. Congratulations to the Fellows: Andrej Bevec, Timothy Brosius, Christian Brown, Evan Devine, Ivy Flores, Ernest Powell, Tommy Truong, Robert Yu, Helen Zhang, and Megan Zlock; and also to Professor Eric Dyer who is teaching this semester's course and organized the effort.

The animation is specifically designed to accompany a 5 minute contemporary violin composition, TRY TO BELIEVE, by Randall Wolf. The Visual Arts IRC Fellows entry was announced the winner this past Thursday, after a week of being posted on YouTube, as well as being sent to the Philharmonic for review by a jury. The animation uses a combination of historic animation toys, zoetropes, along with high-tech digital video techniques to achieve a unique and compelling look. In addition, the video will be performed live in Baltimore on May 13, 8pm, at the Creative Alliance as part of the Visual Arts student-run Lightstruck film festival.
