Cinematic Arts Alumnus Brian Dannelly's ('97) new film, Struck By Lightning, had its premiere showing at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. on January 6th, and it will be released in select theaters on Friday, January 11. Dannelly graduated Magna Cum Laude from the UMBC Honors College and became a directing fellow at the American Film Institute in 1999.

The movie is Dannelly's second film after Saved!, a cult hit which starred Jenna Malone, Mandy Moore, and Macauley Culkin. Dannelly's smallscreen directing credits include the pilot for Weeds, as well as Pushing Daisies and United States of Tara. Brian received a UMBC Alumnus of the Year Award in 2005.

The film's main character, high school senior Carson Phillips, recounts the last few weeks leading up to his untimely demise with clever, insightful flashbacks, including the blackmail scheme he and best friend Malerie (played by Wilson) cook up to force the popular kids to contribute to his literary magazine.
