Lynn Cazabon's exhibition, Uncultivated will run from May 15 through June 21, 2008. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday, 11-5 PM.
Uncultivated is a series of photographs documenting spontaneously growing plant life in urban environments. These images were taken in Baltimore, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan, two cities rife with economic problems and as a result populated with abandoned buildings and large patches of open space. These environments offer opportunities for certain persistent and invasive species of plants to thrive. Such plants are commonly referred to as weeds, a word which designates any plant as unintended and unwanted.
