Animation Program Named in Top US Schools
Animation Career Review Top Schools in the US and East Coast

UMBC's animation program in the visual arts department has been named in the top schools by Animation Career Review. Among the top 100 animation schools in the US, UMBC was ranked 63 and among the top 25 animation schools on the East coast, it ranked 21.
Since 2012, the Animation Career Review magazine researches hundreds of animation schools across the country, to give students information to make informed decisions about the schools and programs they wish to attend. The rankings were based on surveys, information gathered from hundreds of schools, and speaking with professionals in the field of animation. The criteria included;
- Academic reputation
- Admission selectivity
- Depth and breadth of the program and faculty
- Value as it relates to tuition and indebtedness
- Geographic location
21. University of Maryland-Baltimore County, Baltimore, Maryland
The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) is home to the popular Department of Visual Arts (VArts). The Department
offers several programs for aspiring animators. Offerings include a BA/BFA in Visual Arts with a Concentration in Animation/Interactive Media. Students wishing to enhance their education may be interested in the BFA in Visual Arts with a Concentration in Cinematic Arts or Intermedia.
The University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) was established in 1966. It sits on a 500 - acre campus just 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. This Honors University is home to nearly 14,000 students and it offers 44 undergraduate majors, 36 master's degree programs, 24 doctoral degree programs, and 17 graduate certificate programs across 6 colleges and schools. UMBC also offers 41 undergraduate minors, 20 certificate programs, and Study Abroad opportunities at 2 institutions in Europe including Polytechnic University of Spain in Valencia and the University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
