IMDA Alumna, Diana Nicholette Jeon '06, has just been awarded the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for photography this year. There were 570 entrants worldwide (63 countries were represented). Diana was one of three awardees this year and the only person from the United States. Her work will be displayed at the 5th biennial of documentary art & photography in Barcelona this year.

Diana lives and works in Hawaii. She relocated with her family (her husband and young son) to Baltimore so that she could earn her MFA degree from our program. Since leaving our program and returning to Hawaii, Diana has won an ever increasing series of prestigious awards and has shown her work extensively with an upcoming solo show at the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Diana's work has been featured in various publications. Most recently, Shots magazine did an interview with Diana in which she acknowledges her MFA experience at UMBC as a formative influence on her artistic career and especially mentions how much she learned from our Associate Staff member Chris Peregoy whom she dubs the master of all things photo.
