William Pope.L, recently named the "laureate of performance art" by The New York Times, is a visual and performance-theatre artist and educator who makes culture out of contraries. He attended Mason Gross School at Rutgers University and studied with Leon Golub and Geoffrey Hendricks. Pope.L curated "Ssma, Ssma, Ssma", an examination of live art and contemporary body performance at the Sculpture Center, New York City, in June 2000 and is participating in the Whitney Museum of Art's Biennial of 2002. 7 pm, Fine Arts 306.
